Pain is the most common problem: including abutment pain and soft tissue pain, abutment pain is often due to excessive force or lateral external force of the ring. Soft tissue pain is mostly caused by the edge of the base is too long and sharp, there are small tumors on the surface of the base tissue, etc., and there are bone tips or bone processes and bone ridges in the alveolar ridge, forming tissue concave, covering the mucosa is thin, denture squeeze base sinks, sharp ridge wear, etc.
Poor retention and stability, mainly manifested as: (1) bounce, the ring does not enter the indented area of the abutment; (2) Warping, swinging, up and down, the reason is that the snap ring body does not fit with the base, the indirect retaining body is placed in an improper position, the occlusal support, the snap ring forms a fulcrum on the tooth surface, and the snap ring has no retention force; (3) The base is not closely aligned with the tissue, and the edge is not well closed; (4) The crown of the abutment tooth is small, or it is tapered to cause poor retention shape; (5) The position of the artificial tooth is improperly arranged, and warping occurs during occlusion; (6) The edge of the base is too long, which affects the soft tissue activity.
Poor chewing function of dentures may be related to poor shape of the occlusal surface of artificial teeth, poor occlusion of dentures, low vertical distance, and poor conditions of abutment teeth and alveolar ridges
4. Difficulty in removal: the clamp ring is too tight, the base is close to the tooth surface, the base cushioning in the concave area is not enough, and the patient does not master the direction and method of denture removal, which can cause difficulty in removal.
Food impaction: impaction and trapped food between dentures and tissues, the original base and tissue are not closely adhered to, the ring does not fit with the abutment, and there is a gap between the base and the natural tooth, which can cause food impaction.
Unclear pronunciation: Because the denture is put on, the oral space is reduced, the tongue movement is restricted, and there is temporary discomfort, which often causes dysphonia. After a period of training, you can get used to it.
Cheek bite, tongue mucosa: the cover of the upper and lower posterior teeth is too small, it is easy to bite the cheek, and the arrangement of the lower and posterior teeth is biased to the lingual side or the bite is easy to cause tongue biting due to the low level of occlusion.
Nausea and increased saliva: wearing a maxillary removable denture causes nausea due to excessive extension and thickness of the posterior edge of the base or the lack of fitting between the posterior edge of the base and the mucosa. Saliva is mostly caused by unaccustomed habits.
Aesthetic problems: There may be aesthetic problems due to factors such as snap rings.
